The map comes first
For a search like “family lawyer near me”, Google usually shows a map and a short list of firms before any ordinary result. If your firm is not on that list, many searchers never reach your website.
Local SEO services for law firms
When someone needs a lawyer, they often look for one close by. Local SEO for lawyers makes sure your firm shows up for those searches, in the map results and in the ordinary results below them. We look after your Google Business Profile, your office and practice-area pages, your listings and your reviews.
Trusted by Australian brands since 2014

The problem
Most firms that miss out locally have the same few problems. None of them is complicated. All of them need to be done properly and kept up. Local search is also where a smaller firm can compete: you do not have to outrank every national brand, only be the clearest and most trusted answer in your own area.
For a search like “family lawyer near me”, Google usually shows a map and a short list of firms before any ordinary result. If your firm is not on that list, many searchers never reach your website.
A single services page cannot rank for family law in one suburb and conveyancing in another. Each office and each practice area needs its own clear page.
An old address on a legal directory. A phone number that differs from your website. A profile in the wrong category. Small inconsistencies make Google less sure about your firm.
What's included
Delivered by the same team as the rest of your law firm SEO. For how we run this work in any sector, see local SEO services ↗
We claim, complete and maintain a profile for each real office: categories, practice areas listed as services, opening hours, photos and posts.
A page for each office with its address, phone number, opening hours, the lawyers who work there and local business schema.
Family, wills and estates, conveyancing, criminal and commercial, each written for how clients in your area search and decide. No copied suburb pages with the place name swapped.
A simple, repeatable way to ask clients for a Google review at the right moment, and help replying to the ones you get. We never write or buy reviews.
Your firm name, address and phone number, made consistent across your website, legal directories and business listings so Google trusts them.
Structured data for your firm and each office, page speed, mobile usability and indexing. The basics that let Google read your site properly.
How local search works
Google says local results are based mainly on three things: relevance, distance and prominence.
Relevance is how well your profile and your pages match the search. Distance is how close your office is to the searcher, or to the place they named. Prominence is how well known and trusted your firm is, which includes reviews, links and mentions.
Distance is fixed, so the work goes into the other two. A complete, accurate Google Business Profile in the right category. A clear page for each office and each practice area. The same firm name, address and phone number everywhere. Genuine reviews, asked for steadily and answered.
Legal adds its own care. Google holds legal content to a high standard, and your marketing is bound by the Solicitors’ Conduct Rules. We keep claims factual and we never promise rankings.
Local is one part of SEO for lawyers, which also covers technical foundations, content and links. Want the full local checklist first? Read our guide to what local SEO services should include.
Local SEO is mostly about being accurate, complete and consistent, month after month.
Case study · LegalVision
LegalVision provides legal services to businesses across Australia, New Zealand and the UK. Our work for them covers SEO and PPC. Because LegalVision can serve local businesses, we used hyperlocal targeting to reduce costs and increase conversions, alongside keyword work that improved search rankings and content marketing. The figures below are for the whole programme, which was led by paid search. They are not local SEO results.
Whole programme. The initial lift.
Whole programme. Not a local SEO figure.
Whole programme. Lead volume, year after year.

How we work
Local SEO rewards steady, careful work. We fix the foundations first, then build reviews, links and content over time.
Your offices, your practice areas and which matters are worth the most.
Your Google Business Profile, your listings, your site and which firms show up locally today.
Categories, services, details and photos, complete and accurate for each office.
Office and practice-area pages that match what local clients search for.
Reviews, citations and local links, added steadily.
Track calls, forms and direction requests, then adjust.
Where local SEO fits
A search for a lawyer can return an AI answer, the map, ads and the ordinary results, all on one page. A firm that appears in only one of them leaves the rest to someone else.
Local SEO takes time to build and does not cost per click. Google Ads for lawyers brings enquiries straight away and can cover the suburbs and practice areas where you do not rank yet. The search terms that turn into consultations in your ads account are also the best list of what your pages should target. Our article on PPC vs SEO for law firms explains how to split the two.
The same accurate, consistent information that helps you locally also helps AI tools describe your firm correctly. See AI search for lawyers.
However the enquiry arrives, we report on calls, forms and direction requests, not rankings alone. See everything we do for law firms.
Frequently asked questions
Local SEO for lawyers is the work of making your firm show up when people nearby search for the legal help you offer. That covers the map results, driven by your Google Business Profile, and the ordinary results below them, driven by your website. It is one part of SEO for lawyers.
Law firm SEO builds rankings for practice-area searches across Google, wherever the searcher is. Local SEO is about searches tied to a place: “near me” searches and searches that name a suburb or city. It relies more on your Google Business Profile, office pages, reviews and consistent listings. Most firms need both.
Google says local results are based mainly on relevance, distance and prominence. Relevance is how well your profile and website match the search. Distance is how close your office is to the searcher or the place they named. Prominence is how well known and trusted the firm is, which includes reviews, links and mentions. You cannot move your office, so the work goes into relevance and prominence.
Each real office gets its own Google Business Profile and its own page on your website, with that office’s address, phone number, opening hours and local business schema. We keep the details consistent everywhere they appear, and we only set up profiles for offices your firm actually works from. Our local SEO services guide covers the full checklist.
We can make it much easier. We set up a simple way to ask clients at the right moment and help you reply to the reviews you receive. Some clients will not want to be named, and that is their decision. We do not write, buy or incentivise reviews. It is against Google’s rules and it puts your profile at risk.
Often both. Google Ads brings enquiries straight away and you pay for each click. Local SEO takes longer to build and does not cost per click. Many firms run ads while the organic side grows, then keep ads for the areas and practice areas where they do not rank yet. See Google Ads for lawyers and our article on PPC vs SEO for law firms.
No. Nobody controls Google’s results, and a law firm should be wary of any agency that says otherwise. We commit to the work, clear reporting and progress on enquiries. There are no lock-in contracts, so you can leave if we are not delivering.
