Keyword and category research
We map what shoppers search for to the page that should rank for it: category, product or buying guide. Terms with buying intent come first.
eCommerce SEO agency
We help online stores rank the category and product pages that sell, on Shopify and other platforms. Every campaign is measured by organic revenue and transactions.
Trusted by Australian brands since 2014

Why store SEO stalls
An online store has problems a brochure site does not. There can be thousands of product pages. Products go in and out of stock. Filters and variants create duplicate pages. Category pages carry the most valuable search terms and often have almost no content.
Then there are the competitors. You are up against large retailers and marketplaces with far more authority than you. Paid ads can cover the gap, but only while you keep paying for every click.
SEO for a store is about focus. Find the pages that can make money, fix what stops Google from ranking them, and build authority where it will pay back. Our guide to ecommerce digital marketing in Australia shows where SEO sits next to paid, email and content.
The goal is not more visitors. It is more sales that did not cost a click.
What's included
Delivered by the same team that runs our technical SEO audits ↗ and link building ↗
We map what shoppers search for to the page that should rank for it: category, product or buying guide. Terms with buying intent come first.
Category pages usually have the most to gain. We improve their copy, headings, internal links and filters so they can rank for the broad terms shoppers use.
Titles, descriptions, images, product schema and internal links, reviewed page by page for your best sellers and by template for the rest of the catalogue.
Crawling, indexing, duplicate pages, site speed and structured data, checked regularly as products come and go.
Links go mostly to pages that convert well but sit just off page one, not only to pages that already rank. We clean up poor quality links too.
Reports show organic revenue and transactions next to rankings and traffic, so you can see what SEO is worth to the store.
Shopify SEO
Shopify takes care of the basics, such as a sitemap, secure hosting and mobile-friendly themes. It does not choose your keywords, write your collection pages or earn your links. And it has a few habits that can hold a store back if nobody is watching them.
Shopify can serve the same product at more than one address, depending on the collection a shopper came through. We check canonical tags and internal links so authority goes to one version.
Tag and filter pages can create large numbers of near-identical URLs. We decide which ones deserve to rank and keep the rest out of the index.
Many themes give collections a product grid and little else. We add useful copy, sensible headings and links between related collections.
Every app adds code to the storefront, and it often stays after the app is removed. We find what is slowing pages down and work with your developer to fix it.
We check that price, stock and review data are marked up correctly, and that colour and size variants do not compete with each other in search.
Moving to Shopify changes your URL structure. We map old URLs to new ones before launch so existing rankings and links carry over.

How we work
A store can have thousands of URLs. We work in order of revenue potential, so effort goes where it earns the most.
Your products, margins, best sellers and how customers find you today.
A technical crawl, a keyword gap analysis and a review of your backlink profile.
Rank the fixes and the target pages by revenue potential, not by how easy they are.
Technical issues, category pages and product templates, with your developer where needed.
Content and links for the pages with the most room to grow.
Track organic revenue and transactions each month and adjust the plan.

Questions
If yours isn't here, ask us on the call.
We make it easier for shoppers to find your store in Google without paying for each click. That covers keyword research, category and product page optimisation, technical fixes, content and link building. We report on organic revenue and transactions, not only rankings. It is part of our wider SEO services.
Yes. Our eCommerce SEO covers Shopify stores. The fundamentals are the same on any platform, but Shopify has its own quirks: a fixed URL structure, duplicate product addresses through collections, tag pages and themes weighed down by apps. Shopify handles the basics well. Most of the gains come from the collection pages, the content and the links, which no platform does for you.
They do different jobs. Shopping ads put products in front of buyers straight away and you pay for each click. SEO takes longer and keeps bringing in traffic without a cost per click. Most stores need both, planned together. See Google Shopping management and our eCommerce digital marketing page for how the channels fit.
Usually not the ones already at the top. We split link building roughly 70/30 between pages that convert well but rank just off page one, and pages that need protecting. We explain how to pick the targets in the 70/30 rule for ecommerce link building. More on the service is on our link building page.
It depends on the size of the catalogue, the technical state of the site, the strength of your competitors and how quickly changes can be made to the store. Technical fixes tend to show first. Rankings for competitive category terms take longer. We will give you an honest view after the audit.
Sometimes. If the traffic comes from searches with no buying intent, that is an SEO problem. If the right people arrive and do not buy, the issue is more likely trust, pricing or the product page itself. Our 10-point rescue plan for stores with no sales walks through how to tell the difference.
Yes. Many brands sell through their own store and on Amazon, and each needs a different approach. We compare the two in Should I launch my product on Shopify or Amazon?, and our Amazon marketing page covers the marketplace side.
